mon went to charles' wedding dinner.. was fashionably late (ya, i know.. not again rite?) cos this time round i spoil my eye make-up n have to re-do it.. even e 2nd round make-up not up to my expectation but i heck le cos if not i'll be an hour late le.. time to brush up on my make up skills man.. nothing to comment much abt e dinner except tt there is serious gender imbalance at my table n some other tables!! my table onli got 2 gals n our neighbouring table onli got 1 guy!! then we were joking tt Lenco can rival Wei Xiao Bao.. lolz.. overall e service sucks, e plates n utensils doesn't seem to be totally clean. one of my collegue mention he saw finger print on e new cup tt e waiter passed to him & my plate + chopstick was taken away while im at another table *the* & e chopsticks were not replaced!! *stupid* they like expect me to eat with my hands for e remaining 2-3 dishes & none of e waiters noticed tt im strandled w/o chopsticks when e dish is served leh.. like tt how to be waiter, i still need to ask for a set of chopsticks. bad impression abt this hotel le.. throughout we like on drinking spree.. everyone is trying to make e other party drunk.. how fun.. hehz.. so that's why u will also see hard liquor being served & our co ppl sure knows how to 'zhen' e groom.. >>red wine + white wine + beer + chilli (yesh, u saw it right) + whiskey >> jaw drop super big then e person who invented e abv drink also get rather drunk.. dunno why so high throughout e entire night, realli not e norm self.. hmmm.. but one person not drunk leh, cos he needs to drive.. =P however i wonder if he's drunk, cos he actualli brushed his car against my boots when i was alighting from his car.. diaoz.. luckily im wearing boots, if not dunno wat will happen to my legs. anyway its my first time wearing boots! but its not mine, i borrow my sis's =P hope i dun attract unwanted attraction when walking on e streets.. love boots but always dun dare to buy n wear cos firstly spore weather realli v hot until wearing boots is like a v stupid thing to do n it also din help tt u can hardly see ppl wearing boots n makes me even dun feel like wearing.. *community behaviour, u know* =D
then e veri next day its our grp new yr gathering.. can guess that quite a num of ppl will be late ya.. cos mon nite drank too much.. lol.. have fun playing games n certain guys are realli good at captain's ball! when e ball is on thier hand, its game over for us (gals + e rival team) then e game is so lopsided tt e referee decides to reshuffle e team members to make it a more even match, hah.. then e gift exchange not as ideal as we planned out cos quite a num of ppl can't turn up last min such tt some of us din get e presents.. also we e organisers din plan well enough to allow for a contingency plan so instead of ending on a high note it somehow just ended w/o any fanfare.. lesson to be learnt..
finally got a Econs gathering in ages... n this time round its organised by Elson! frankly speaking im rather surprised cos he's not so active among those who hang out at e econs hons room during e final yr. but realli appreciate his efforts. =)
more gals than guys turn up at e chalet.. rather surprised cos its usualli e other way round although until now i still dun figure out how come there are more guys than gals in hons yr even though gals outnumbered e guys during e 1st 3 yrs of e course.. anyway it rained cats n dogs during most of the late afternoon n evening.. until most of us were feeling rather sian.. stuck in e room w nothing to do, we ended up either playing cards or mahjong n i think i better dun play mahjong w money le.. end up to be e one tt throw e winning tile to e winner.. jia lat..
while we were playing in e rm, elson's other grp of frens were actualli bbqing n we ended up got free food =D then when we wanted to go down to bbq, it's 9pm le then we decide to watch 'Little Nyonya' lolz.. quite surprised that this drama got a mass loyal following among e econs ppl! n most of us mention tt its our 1st local drama in dunno how mani yrs.. definitely says sth abt e quality of local drama in recent yrs ya? i agreed w them cos im also one of them.. it is my first time that when i missed one episode of e local drama, i will go online to search for online video of it.. can see tt im rather captivated by e drama..
n while watching, we also end up criticising e unreasonableness of e drama.. to say 'Little Nyonya' is realli good is an overstatement cos there are certain parts of e story that baffles me n i also find that they ought to use the Nyonya language rather than Chinese.. somehow seeing the actors/actresses speaking chinese makes me feel uncomfortable leh.. cos maybe i know most Nyonya families are actualli e ang moh type ba..
then after e show, elson has to invite us to go down to bbq but we were like 'wait, we want to watch e news to know abt e latest development of e spore flyer incident'.. fainted right.. then when we did finalli went downstairs, it started drizzling shortly after. then we were telling elson, ' elson, 我們是不祥的人' =P (quote from one of e sentence said by Jeanette Aw in Little Nyonya tt night) guess no one will dare to invite us for bbq next time le ba.. =D
intend to stay over 4 e night one but most of e ppl started leaving at 10+ until i feeling rather sianz.. one grouse i have abt e econs ppl is tt most, esp e gals, are not onz enough until at times i find it a tad boring when im w them.. like after dinner they jus went home n i was thinking 'huh, its still early wat, can go elsewhere chat or hav a drink'.. perhaps my character is jus more outgoing + im an owl ba.. anyway i ended up leaving at little past midnight.. but at least did hav a good time there =)
n went to ktv w e astro ppl a few days back.. they can realli sing! wonder how come not once have i went w them to ktv since all of us all like to sing.. =D maybe timing prob ba.. esp when they are still studying n im working.. realise i have been meeting up w e astro ppl quite frequently these days aft e gathering at juening's house. cos abt 1+ week ago we also went for geminids ob.. its one day past full moon but we just went cos its been quite some time since we hav an overnight ob.. n we did manage to see several meteors! n qihui n wendy seems to be e 'meteor generator' cos when they did sth or went off, we can see meteors =P n luckily it din rain until early morning if not we realli dunno where to go hide esp w e scope ard.. hope tt e next AB can be in tioman, cos e sky there realli good =D
back then we tend to say that this person got the XX sch look or YY JC look and most of my uni and working frens always dunno which sch im from cos i dun have tt sch look whereas got a few say that i got my alma JC look which i realli go 'har' cos given my behaviour /attitude during JC times, i admit tt im not the normal kind of student in tt JC
anyway i msut admit that sporean wives realli dunno how to dress up, esp those housewives..
many a times when i saw them in shopping centres, i realli marvel at their 'daringness'.. cos its super plain and some even 'lok-cok' until i may not even wear them at home.. is it bcos they think they married le then dun need to please men anymore so they just anyhow wear? or is it the kids that realli tires them so much that they no longer have the time plus energy to dress up a little?
however i must also say that there's nothing wrong with going with make up and carrying non branded bags la.. personally i feel that it's not how much your clothes/accessories worth that matters, its the overall look/feel that counts.. I rather see ppl wearing nice and looking good without any branded items than to see a person wearing rather sloppily and carry a branded bag.. it realli spoils the image of the bag lor.. makes it look so cheap.. fake bags even worse.. i for one derives satisfaction from looking good without spending a bomb, cos even one who wear branded goods from head to toe may not look stylish or chic too.. think Victoria Beckham.. its the mix and match skills that counts..
then make up, actualli i also dun realli like to put on make up.. i believe that natural is best.. lol.. depends on person to person ba.. for me, what's important is skin care and not comestics.. if ur skin condition is good, u just need to apply a bit of blusher or mascara and u'll look attractive le.. somemore comestics is artificial/temporary look-good only so why not spend more time taking good care of ur skin by practising the three-step routine for a start?
certainly more is not always better.. either extreme is not good.. always remember, moderation is definitely e route to go.. a very simple logic.. not seems like most of us are oblivious to it..
Closed off from love I didn’t need the pain Once or twice was enough And it was all in vain Time starts to pass Before you know it you’re frozen
But something happened For the very first time with you My heart melts into the ground Found something true And everyone’s looking round Thinking I’m going crazy
But I don’t care what they say I’m in love with you They try to pull me away But they don’t know the truth My heart’s crippled by the vein That I keep on closing You cut me open and I
Keep bleeding Keep, keep bleeding love I keep bleeding I keep, keep bleeding love Keep bleeding Keep, keep bleeding love You cut me open
Trying hard not to hear But they talk so loud Their piercing sounds fill my ears Try to fill me with doubt Yet I know that the goal Is to keep me from falling
But nothing’s greater Than the rush that comes with your embrace And in this world of loneliness I see your face Yet everyone around me Thinks that I’m going crazy, maybe, maybe
And it’s draining all of me Oh they find it hard to believe I’ll be wearing these scars For everyone to see
I don’t care what they say I’m in love with you They try to pull me away But they don’t know the truth My heart’s crippled by the vein That I keep on closing You cut me open and I
Keep bleeding Keep, keep bleeding love I keep bleeding I keep, keep bleeding love Keep bleeding Keep, keep bleeding love You cut me open and I
Keep bleeding Keep, keep bleeding love I keep bleeding I keep, keep bleeding love Keep bleeding Keep, keep bleeding love You cut me open and I
Books To Read Book Collection Drive - 13th Dec 2008
Got this from one of my frens.
Books To Read Book Collection Drive - 13th Dec 2008 As some of you are aware about Books To Read (BTR), with which I have been involved in the last few months. In short, it is an initiative by a group of young volunteers that aims to re-distribute used secondary school text books to schools lacking educational resources in Africa. Launched in 2008, Books To Read's flagship project SAIL (Singapore-Africa Initiative for Learning) aims to raise a minimum of 1,000-3,000 used textbooks for re-distribution to government-aided secondary schools in Nigeria, Zambia and Sudan.
Overseas, books will be used in the daily education of children working toward their Key Stage 3 and GCSE equivalent exams as well as go their general reading categories in their poorly resourced libraries.
Ideally, we would appreciate textbooks such as: - Secondary 1-4 English-based textbooks (Subject: English, Maths and Science) - English literature / story books - General Knowledge/Education text books - No magazines or materials with religious / explicit content
And to fulfill this dream of providing books to children, we need your help and your books. If you have books to donate which can be used for the kids of the african schools, please reply to this email with the following information:
Name: Address: Contact number: Type of books: Quantity of books:
We will come to your address on 13th December and collect the books.
Visit our website to learn more about our cause http://bookstoread.org.sg . If you have other books, not mentioned above, which you would like to donate, please do contact myself or my colleague Giana.
