got money = can do anything??
this is a realli old time fave debate qn & i cant help but wonder about it lookin at e soccer scene now..
there was a time which Real Madrid seems like e team to 'siam' cos e team has lots of star studded players eg zidane, beckham etc.. but e cute thing is their resutls, be it domestic or international is not fantastic..
then there comes Chelsea..
& i rem it is e time which i actualli rooted for Man U to challenge Chelsea cos Liverpool is nowhere in sight..
reason being, they are good just bcos they got e $$ to buy e good players wat.. so wat's there to be proud of??
then Chelsea also din maintain in top form for long..
right now i dunno why Real Madrid is repeating history to spend tons of $$$ to buy certain football stars.. haven they learnt from past experience? if they realli got too much $$$ n dunno how to spend, can give me some? lolz...
another news tt caught my eyes for this week is China's version of A level..
rem e time when i realli hated studying n grumbled why qin shi huang din burnt all e books, never have i thought of ripping e books apart aft exam.. at most jus throw it away so as never to see them again..
but e students there go one up.. tearing e books right in front of the teachers etc right aft exam n let e flying papers landed all over e sch..
how much hatred do u need to accumulate before engaging in such drastic action?!?
exam stress.. all of us hav been thro, done tt.. so needless to say here..
& for East Asian countries whose emphasis is still largely on academic results, e stress level of students are definitely higher than tt of spore..
korean one is realli extreme.. push back working hours of adults by one hour so tt candidates wont get stuck in jams, parents kneeling n praying for their child/children in temple/churches..
then now e chinese one is tearing books..
dunno which is worse?
education is meant for ppl to gain knowledge to be a better person and also used e knowledge one acquire to contribute to society..
since when this objective becomes so twisted?!?
& since students now find studying a chore/ hated to e core, what hav they learnt in the past 9-12 yrs??
wont it be better if there are alternatives for students to choose?
having a uniform exam is not wrong, in fact i like it as it prevents dispute resulting from differing standards from schools..
but it ought not to be e case tt this exam will determine e rest of one's life..
its alr e 21st century, all roads ought to lead to Rome.. Uni is no longer e sole route
but guess unless e govt takes e lead to change e education sys, it will be realli tough to change this entrenched mindsets of millions in Asia..
even then, no guarantee of success too..
look at spore now..
has been advocating 'teach less, learn more' for 3-4 yrs le but seems like its e perfect excuse for parents to pack their child(ren) timetable with loads of extra lessons/enrichment course etc so need to learn more mah... =.="
