Weekend Special: Astro Pic Session 5

Hmmm, think it's time to go into the solar system since this is where we live..
Since everyone is alr familar with the planets...
Let's go into the moons of the planets!! =D

Ganymede: Largest moon in the solar system & of Jupiter
It is even bigger than Mercury..
If Ganymede orbited the Sun instead of Jupiter it could be classified as a planet!

Titan: 2nd largest moon in the solar system & Largest moon in Saturn.
IMHO, it is the most interesting moon in the solar system..
It is the only moon that has an atmosphere, which is more dense than those of Mercury, Earth, Mars and Pluto!!
However, due to e thick layers of clouds (believed to be hydrocarbons), the surface of Titan still remains a mystery..

Callisto: 3rd largest moon in the solar system & 2rd largest moon of Jupiter
It is about the same size as Mercury.
It is the most heavily cratered satellite in the solar system.

Io: 4th largest moon in the solar system & 3rd largest moon of Jupiter
It is one of the most exotic places in the solar system.
It is the most volcanic body known and its mountains are much taller than those on Earth reaching heights of 16 kilometers!! (Mount Everest is only close to 9km)
I regonise this moon by its numerous 'holes'.. lol..

Moon: 5th largest in the solar system.
hmm, nothing much to say about it.. im sure most of us have some knowledge abt it alr..
nevertheless one interesting fact: do you know that we are looking at the same side of the moon since eternity??
